Most VPK is 3 to 4 hours. Most parents work 9 or 10.
Florida's free VPK is a half day. If both of you work, the rest of the day is yours to solve — and the programs that solve it are the hardest ones to find and to judge.
Typical VPK day, 8 to 12
Your workday plus commute, 7 to 6:30
The gap you're paying someone to fill
Long-hours programs exist. They fill up fast, and the friendliest ones aren't always the good ones.
What it costs
Priced like insurance against a $1,500-a-month mistake. Pay once per enrollment season, not every month.
Application calendar and deadline alerts
Every school's application window, a reminder before each one opens, and the VPK-to-kindergarten timeline.
